Selena- the shoprite girl

Lately I have been consolidating old images of completed works and getting them into digital format.  It has been taking me down memory lane or is it a highway!?
Selena worked at the local supermarket in the small town we lived in at the time. She didn't know it but each day I would look at her carefully as I brought the bread, milk etc.  I was on maternity leave so would walk up to the shop with the pram each day to get Ella off to sleep. Then rush home to put the details I had observed into the painting.  Selena did not have jewelery on. I added the necklace and earrings that Clyde had brought me and also an egyptian moon ring that I had brought with my first husband when I was in India. Adding the packets detail was easy to fit in around a new born baby and her sleep patterns.  I have fond memories of this painting....... which has been long ago sold.  When the painting was completed I went to Selena and told her what I had been doing and gave her a photo of the painting.  The painting is in gouache and ink on 300 gsm watercolour paper.
